​Innovation Hot Spot

Through a competitive process, Empire State Development's Division of Science, Technology and Innovation (NYSTAR) has designated 10 Innovation Hot Spots—one for each of New York's economic development regions—and 20 Certified Business Incubators, which receive funding to reach a greater number of early-stage companies.

The Tech Garden is the designated Innovation Hot Spot for the Central New York region. The Hot Spot program is a five year tax incentive program designed for formative stage companies in the tech and manufacturing industries. Tax incentive certifications are provided by a NY Certified Innovation Hot Spot whose goal is to provide services and resources that enable these businesses to successfully transition from start-up phase to larger-scale commercialization of their products and services.
