(Oswego, NY – April 2, 2024) Oswego Health joined Finger Lakes Donor Recovery Network and other workplaces and organ procurement organizations (OPOs) nationwide in DoNation—the national campaign uniting America’s workforce for organ, eye, and tissue donation. This national initiative, sponsored by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, challenges workplaces to create donation-friendly workplace communities that educate and engage employees and the community about the crucial need for organ donation and gives them opportunities to sign up as organ, eye, and tissue donors.

DoNation engages workplaces of all sizes and sectors in this lifesaving and life-giving mission. More than 630,000 people added their names to the organ donor registry throughout the lifetime of the campaign (previously the Workplace Partnership for Life Hospital Campaign).

Now is the time to join DoNation—with all our hearts—in this lifesaving and life-giving mission!

“Donation is not only a selfless act of kindness, it is an opportunity to impact and change so many lives positively,” shared Clinical Supervisor at Oswego Health, Amber Shumway, RN, BSN, who is championing this year’s campaign. “Giving a stranger and their loved ones the greatest gift of all, another chance to see again, move without pain, heal quicker or restore their life, giving them years of active living. I think for me it's a gift to those that are left behind to know their loved one still lives on and can impact so many lives.”

Oswego Health is asking the community to help spread the word on the critical need for organ, eye, and tissue donation.

There are many ways to support this effort, and the easiest is to register as an organ donor. Please take a moment to visit www.organdonor.gov to learn more about organ, eye, and tissue donation and sign up as a donor at www.PassLifeOn.org.
